Ms. Akkayan Yıldırım,

First of all, I would like to thank you, Ms. Halis Kasap and Ms. Kahveci for the contributions on interviews about International LLM programs. I get immense benefits from them as a prospective applicant.

In addition to on campus LLM programs that are inclusively covered in many interviews in this platform, I would like to draw attention online LLM programs that has begun to be offered a wide range of universities across the world.

As well as it is mentioned by the interviewee, on campus master’s degree is a serious investment in terms of time and economical cost. Besides, it brings psychological costs such as moving to a new country where you don’t almost know anyone and where everything is different. For this reasons, prospective applicants might like to consider online LLM programs which are more likely to reduce time, economical and psychological costs by the advantage of studying from the comfort of your home.

These advantages of online master’s degree compared to on campus education can be concisely listed in four articles. First, an online LLM remove the necessity of moving to a new country and commuting.

Second, tuition fees of vast majority of online master’s degrees are more affordable than their traditional counterparts. For example, a renowned college in US, Georgia Institute of Technology, offers online master with the tuition is around $6,630 -- about a sixth of the cost of an on-campus degree. Adding additional costs such as accommodation, commuting and food expenses, online master’s degree can cost tenth times cheaper than traditional option.

Third, an online master’s degree is also more flexible in scheduling. It is possible to complete your lectures, assignments, exams etc. in more variable timetable. Many professionals may prefer this flexibility since it allows them to continue working while they pursue their degree. Many online master’s degrees also offer more flexible period of study duration than traditional a year or a year and half studies. It can range from 6 months to 30 months according to a given program. Therefore, it reduces time cost by giving opportunity to determine your own pace of study.

Forth, online education provides more individiualized learning by bestowing the full control of your learning experience. Since all the course materials are usually available online, it is easy to review lessons and worksheets as often as desired to master the material.

However, although online LLM offers several advantages, it is a new-born and developing sector. Therefore, it is hard to find high quality of materials to do research about universities and programmes in this matter. Ms. Kahveci, Ms. Halis Kasap and you might help us to learn these programs in depth thanks to your experience in law education. For example, it would be great to read an interview with a director of an online LLM consists of similar questions of previous interviews and new questions that are needed to be asked considering the nature of online master.

P.S: I preferred to write in English by considering there might be international students of yours who will read this comment.

Respectfully yours,
Kerem.
