Rainer Keil



Dr. Rainer Keil is General Manager of the Dean’s Office and Lecturer, Faculty of Law, University of Heidelberg, Federal Republic of Germany. He studied law in Trier and Heidelberg. After the 1st and 2nd state examination in law and admission to the bar, he worked as Rechtsanwalt (attorney) in several fields of law, especially migration and refugee law. His dissertation about the possible relevance of Immanuel Kant’s philosophy of law for the interpretation of democracy as a concept of constitutional law was the basis of the conferral of the degree Dr. iur. (German equivalent of a Ph.D. in law) in 2005. Since then, several publications on constitutional law, procedural law, human rights law, philosophy of law, theory of democracy and refugee law. Keil manages among others the LL.M. program in German and European Law of the Faculty of Law in Heidelberg.
